FAQ

What is CranioSacral Therapy and where can I get more information?
A gentle but profound, hands-on method of working with the craniosacral system to enhance the body's natural healing process. The therapist uses light pressure to coax the body to release, unwind and self-correct. Stretching and lengthening the connective tissue and balancing the many layers of body dysfunction. A deep relaxation usually ensues allowing for long lasting changes. This non-invasive approach is safe for all ages and conditions.

Can I talk during my massage?

Sure you can talk during your massage but the therapeutic effects of the session are much greater if talking is at a minimum. I want you to relax fully and take the opportunity to drift away while I work on you. I consider bodywork time similar to meditation where you make yourself open to change in a mindful manner. CranioSacral Therapy has a component of emotional release and sometimes it helps for people to express what the are seeing and feeling during session. In those cases the dialogue is part of the therapy. There are also some clients who would prefer to chat and laugh and remain fully awake and aware. My motto has always been " If you chat, I chat and if you are quiet, I am quiet"

How does Music effect my massage?

Music greatly effects the intension behind the massage. If we listen to more energetic music, then the benefits of the meditative part of massage is lost. If you want to chat and laugh anyway - any music is fine. There are studies showing that music with less than 60 beats per minute helps put us in a state of relaxation that is healing. I prefer these types of sessions - how much time do most of us spend drifting along on the sound of flowing music.

What do I wear to my massage?

During your session you will disrobe to your comfort level. Most people leave their underwear on for the comfort of both client and therapist. On occasion the therapist may request that you wear comfortable (stretchable) clothing so that stretching can be done with clothing on before or after the session. Some CranioSacral therapy sessions are done fully clothed.
